Landscape and gardening are very important because industrialization causes global warming and urban heat islands. The landscape reduces the urban heat island, gives oxygen, reduces sound pollution etc. So people should know the landscape and gardening. In this course we are learning about the landscape and gardening, the role of landscape in the built environment, classification of plants, outdoor and indoor plants and their functions, layout and components.

Growth requirements of plants – Sunlight, Temperature, Water, Soil, Hardiness zone & Wind tolerance, Disease and fest interactions. Plants that grow in within built environment is called indoor plants. In this module I am going to cover about the Definition, Plantation and Maintenance of indoor plants, Indoor plants.

When you designing the landscape students should know the Visual composition of planting design. Visual compositions are Elements and principles – form, texture and color. Hard landscape and Soft landscape elements & irrigation system, costing and installation.

Scope and introduction to gardening. Different types of garden, Formal garden, Informal Garden. Mughal garden, Japanese Garden. Chinese Garden- In these topic students learn about the Chinese landscape elements. Elements are pavilion, wall, and window. Planting on the roof is called Sky Garden. In this chapter consist of definition of sky garden, types of sky garden, advantages of sky garden, types of sky garden, design consideration of sky garden.

This module covered the designing of small scale and large scale landscape projects. Small scale project is residential landscape and large scale project is campus landscape.
